Genuine Sheepskin Leather Journal, Blank Chamois Paper | Layered Frame | Leather Overlay | Tree Of Life 1 Engraved
Layered Frame & Leather Overlay is a handcrafted leather journal made from vegetable-tanned genuine sheepskin, finished with a layered frame design and a leather-on-leather figure overlay at its center. Every cover is individually measured, cut and shaped by hand, giving the journal a warm, organic character and a refined artisan feel.
What makes this series stand out is the leather overlay detail, which adds depth and visual richness while preserving the natural beauty of the leather itself. The result is a journal that feels elegant, cohesive and timeless, ideal for writers, artists, travelers and anyone who appreciates understated craftsmanship.
Inside, the journal features 70 gsm chamois-toned uncoated paper, selected for comfortable everyday writing and sketching. With 91% opacity, the paper helps reduce bleed-through and works well with pencils, ballpoint pens and fineliners. Its soft vintage tone is easy on the eyes and complements the natural leather cover beautifully.
The journal is built with a 180° lay-flat special-stitched binding, allowing it to open fully flat for a more comfortable writing or drawing experience. Available in five versatile sizes, it can serve equally well as a pocket notebook, travel journal, sketchbook or meaningful gift.
The leather is dyed using natural root dye and is certified chrome-free and formaldehyde-free. Because each piece is made from genuine leather and assembled by hand, every journal will have its own slight variations in tone, texture and detail. That is not a defect, it is the proof that each one is truly one of a kind.

Made by hand. No two alike.
Every Vian journal passes through at least twelve pairs of hands before it reaches yours. Genuine full-grain leather, hand-sculpted and finished with antique brass hardware in our Antalya atelier.
Your customers don't
buy a journal.
They buy a feeling.
In a world of mass-produced notebooks, a Vian journal stops people in their tracks. The weight in the hand. The resistance of full-grain leather. The face staring back from the cover — sculpted by an artisan in Antalya who has been doing this for years. These are objects that demand to be picked up. And once picked up, they almost always sell themselves.
From hide to heirloom.
Every step by hand.

Leather Selection
Every journal begins with a single hide. Our leather specialist selects full-grain sheepskin by touch — feeling for the right density, natural grain, and character. Hides with imperfections are kept: they become the most interesting pieces.

Sculpting & Forming
The leather is dampened, stretched over a form, and worked by hand until it holds its shape. For 3D sculpted pieces, the artisan pushes the leather into relief from behind — a technique unchanged for centuries. No moulds. No machines. Just hands and patience.

Stitching & Binding
Covers are stitched with waxed thread pulled by hand through pre-punched holes. The binding holds 70gsm antique chamois paper — cream-toned, acid-free, with a texture that makes writing feel like an event. Pages are sewn in signatures, not glued.

Hardware & Finishing
Antique brass clasps are fitted by hand. Each one is tested — the click and resistance checked, the patina inspected. The journal is then buffed, conditioned, and wrapped. From selection to shipping, no two journals pass through exactly the same hands in exactly the same way.

Yes, genuinely. The hand-sculpting process combined with natural leather variation means every piece differs in texture, tone, and detail. This is not a marketing claim — it is a physical fact of how they are made. No two journals leave our atelier identical.
